Louisville police have fired officer Brett Hankison for his role in the shooting death of Breonna Taylor

Interim Chief Robert Schroeder wrote in a letter Tuesday that Hankison showed "extreme indifference to the value of human life" and that his use of deadly force was improper because he failed to verify it was directed against someone who posed an immediate threat. Taylor, a 26-year-old Black woman who worked as an emergency room technician, was fatally shot by Louisville Metro Police in her apartment on March 13.
