Historic Hurricane Dorian makes landfall in Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, pounding the coast with high winds and heavy rain

Category 1 Dorian's winds knocked out power at nearly 200,000 homes and businesses across North Carolina as massive waves threatened buildings along the coast. The center of the storm was forecast to move southeast of the southeastern tip of New England on Friday night and Saturday morning.
