Americans want tighter gun laws but don't expect Congress to act, even after mass shootings last month, a new poll shows

A nationwide USA TODAY/Suffolk University Poll found that less than a quarter of Americans think Congress will act in the next year. A survey of Congress by USA TODAY Network found most GOP lawmakers unwilling to publicly take a position on gun laws, while most Democrats are in favor.
