June 24, 2020 Letter from the editor: As organizing efforts against anti-Black violence and systemic racism continue around the US, it’s important to remain conscious of best practices for documenting this moment. Noah Morrison, a former student and employee at the International Center of Photography (ICP), has been one of many voices calling for documentarians to be more conscious of the dangers of not obscuring protesters’ identities. Morris, along with members of the group ICP Center Blackness Now, is calling for the institution to issue a set of guidelines for photojournalists, among other actions. On a more celebratory note, a racist statue featuring Theodore Roosevelt, which has long been protested by Indigenous groups and grassroots activists, is finally being removed from its site outside of the American Museum of Natural History.
