Good morning,

Welcome to Friday and your daily news update from The Scotsman.

People in Scotland can now download a QR code showing their vaccination status - starting today.

It comes after the Scottish Government announced plans for mandatory "vaccine passports" in clubs and at large events like football matches.

In other news today, a Scottish woman screamed so loud when she discovered a spider that alarmed neighbours called the police.

And if you're in the market for a whole island, a beautiful one has just gone up for sale off Scotland's north west coast. Can you imagine yourself living the island life?
