A new AI tool has proven capable of detecting signs of cancer that human radiologists overlooked.
It’s another sign that one of the BIG revolutions we could see in the AI world is in healthcare.

The new AI tool is called Mia.
It was piloted alongside NHS clinicians in the UK and analyzed the mammograms of over 10,000 women.
Most of the participants didn’t have cancer, but the AI tool correctly flagged those that did have breast cancer (as well as 11 cases that doctors missed).
The new AI tool was trained on a dataset of over 6,000 previous breast-cancer cases to learn the patterns and imaging biomarkers of associated with the disease.
When evaluated on the new cases, it correctly predicted the presence of cancer with 81.6% accuracy and correctly ruled it out 72.9% of the time.
Frankly, it really looks like AI is going to have MASSIVE implications in healthcare.
