City Hall has launched its first-ever rental registry to track and investigate complaints lodged by renters in apartments across the city, addressing an issue that tenants' rights advocates in New Orleans have raised for years. How effective will it be in cracking down on slumlords? Sophie Kasakove has the story. Gov.-elect Jeff Landry has named three new appointments for key state agencies: the Department of Natural Resources, the Louisiana Workforce Commission and the Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness. Meghan Friedmann has the details. Barry Keim has been Louisiana's state climatologist for almost 20 years and has become a familiar name as he's explained hurricanes, tornadoes and other weather events. But now he's been ousted from that position, possibly due to disputes with agricultural interests over whether last summer's intense drought conditions were being accurately portrayed.
