Our last stop on this tour was to Bridge Sollers, sadly locked again (it does stand right next to an A road...). The slender tower with narrow windows and long-and-short work is unmissable twelfth century, and at least we were able to make the acquaintance of some fine dragons on the south door arch brackets. Jean spotted the scratched dog-tooth on the arch. Meant to guide cutting that never happened? Or perhaps just a poor man's memory of the "real thing". St Andrew stands guard outside. And in the early spring weather it was a pleasant place to be, complete with spectacular "Gold Bough" mistletoe.
