TOP OF THE AGENDA | Fans flock to Sugar Bowl in New Orleans |
|
| | Thousands of football fans came to the city to see the University of Notre Dame take on the University of Georgia. Credit: Reuters | Fans from two US universities filled a stadium in New Orleans for a highly anticipated American football game as the city reels from a deadly New Year's Day attack. Bourbon Street, where a Texas man drove a pick-up truck through a crowd of people, reopened to the public shortly before the match. A man who was discharged from hospital on Thursday afternoon after being caught up in the attack headed straight back there. Dressed in the same clothes he was wearing on 1 January, Jovon Miguel Bell lifted his shirt to show cuts and bruises across his torso, which he said were the result of getting trampled. "I'm blessed, to be honest. God is good," he told Bernd Debusmann Jr. "Blessings to the victims and their families." |

BEYOND THE HEADLINES | The snack empowering Indian women |
|
| | | Besides poppadoms, the women also make spices and detergents. Credit: Getty Images | Seven housewives in Mumbai started a co-operative in 1959, seeing an opportunity to work from home and earn money by using their cooking skills. Initially, they made poppadoms, a popular snack. The co-operative now counts 45,000 members across India, producing various goods. |

And finally... | In 1995, the BBC's Tomorrow's World programme decided to predict what the world would look like 30 years later, in 2025. With the help of some experts - and the benefit of three decades of hindsight - technology reporter Graham Fraser reviews what the show got right, and what it missed. | |
