| CDCs MMWR and Medscape are proud to introduce a new FREE continuing education (CE) activity. The goal is to describe the epidemiology and implications of syphilis infections among pregnant women and resulting cases of congenital syphilis in New York City (NYC) during 20102016. The activity is based on a review of NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) data.
This activity is intended for obstetricians, gynecologists, womens health practitioners, pediatricians, family medicine practitioners, infectious disease specialists, nurses, pharmacists, public health officials, and other clinicians who treat and manage pregnant women with or at risk for syphilis, and their offspring. Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to describe national recommendations for syphilis screening during pregnancy, evaluate factors contributing to congenital syphilis cases during 20102016 in NYC, and identify three clinical and public health implications of this review of NYC DOHMH data related to congenital syphilis cases reported during 20102016.
