Letter from the Editor The SGLT-2 inhibitors have made a big change in the way we think about diabetes management, and have emphasized how important a role the kidney plays in glucose management and metabolism. We have gone from a total fear of urinary tract infections to a realization of how these medications help with hypertension and heart failure, and it seems that even though most benefits and side effects are class-wide, there are individual differences that can make picking one entity over the other worthwhile for patients. To help you select the best SGLT-2 inhibitor for your particular patient, our intern, Maya S. Palmer, Doctor of Pharmacy Candidate, Florida A&M University, has prepared a chart for the purpose. ***************************** We can make a difference! ***************************** Dave Joffe Editor-in-chief |
