The Linked Data Myth By Kyle Banerjee Linked Data is only as useful as the metadata on which it depends, and poor quality metadata ultimately causes the challenges many librarians hope to address with Linked Data. Given that the resources necessary to create and maintain the access points, vocabularies, and relationships Linked Data needs to function are unlikely to emerge, the potential for Linked Data to benefit library services is limited. |

Reviews WEB-FIRST REVIEWS OF BOOKS AND MEDIA All the Devils Are Here, the sixteenth entry in Louise Penny's "Chief Inspector Gamache" series, is one of this week's starred mysteries. "The strengths of this latest procedural from the inimitable Penny will attract her longtime fans and also draw in new admirers. A deft touch with plotting, sensitive characterization, and the author’s warmth and humanity make this a must-have mystery, especially for collections owning the rest of series." In literature, Zadie Smith's Intimations: Six Essays is this week's starred selection. "Smith demonstrates once again that she is a powerful albeit quiet voice for our challenging times. Highly Recommended." And Emerald Blaze, by Ilona Andrews, is this week's starred romance. "The phenomenal Andrews follows up Sapphire Flames with another satisfying entry in this popular ['Hidden Legacy'] series. Action, romance, intrigue, and tons of danger leave readers wanting more of the Baylors, more of the Primes. A required purchase for all romance collections." See All Reviews››› |
