Dear Golf Digest Reader, This year I'm giving my dad a subscription to Golf Digest+ for Father's Day. If you knew Jeff Adler, you'd probably say why bother? The guy is old school, loves print, and suffers endless trouble finding things on "the Google," which is how he refers to all web browsers. I'm always explaining that Golf Digest's newest projects–like our Places to Play database of course reviews, video documentaries, dynamic instruction, specialized newsletters–often go beyond the bounds of glued paper. When there's a story I know he'll be interested in–like why Jack Nicklaus is suing the company he founded, or our examination of who Paige Spiranac really is as a person, or my first round with his grandson–I tell him he'll get to read it earlier if he goes digital. The beauty of Golf Digest+ is, a subscription can bundle with the physical magazine, too. Call me cheap, but I know there's nothing he'll love more once he gets the hang of it. Ever since my dad and two brothers and I became an insta-foursome in the mid-1990s, Golf Digest has been a staple in the house where we grew up. Now that we're scattered, conversation about the game still binds us. I know he's proud of me for becoming editor of his favorite magazine, and I'm grateful for everything he did to raise me. Chances are your dad is better with technology than mine. Regardless, it's our obligation to bring them along into the future. If you both love the game, I hope you consider giving your old man a subscription to Golf Digest+, too. Happy Father's Day |
