| NDF hosted a delegation from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland (MFA Finland) 9 March for the signing of a EUR 15 million financing commitment to the new Energy and Environment Partnership Trust Fund covering Southern and East Africa (EEP Africa). The new financing commitment from Finland will support clean energy access and sustainable and inclusive green growth in 15 countries in Southern and East Africa and complements an additional EUR 10 million approved by NDF’s own Board of Directors at the end of 2017. A second signing with the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) for an additional contribution is expected soon to follow. Read more » | |

| The West Africa Coastal Area Erosion and Adaptation Project (WACA, NDF C77), a recipient of EUR 500,000 in NDF support, was successfully completed in 2017. The World Bank collaborated with West African governments to prepare an ambitious regional program to address coastal management issues from a climate-resilience point of view. It is expected to help leverage funding for investments amounting to almost EUR 200 million in 2018, with the World Bank, through its IDA (International Development Association) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF) expected to be among the biggest financiers. | NDF and NEFCO have together published the Nordic Climate Facility Results Report 2017. The report covers aggregated results from the overall NCF portfolio, highlights from projects completed in 2017, featured impact stories, updates and intermediate results from the current active portfolio, as well as lessons learned. So far, NCF projects have directly benefited approximately 1.4 million people across Africa, Asia and Latin America through access to renewable and affordable energy, new income-generating possibilities, job creation, improved health, food security, water availability, waste treatment, women’s empowerment and capacity-building, among other things.
