NDF at COP29 The 29th UN Climate Conference (COP29) is just around the corner! Taking place from 11 to 22 November in Baku, Azerbaijan, it will strongly focus on mobilising climate financing for sustainable and green transitions, protecting vulnerable communities, and driving much-needed innovations to meet our collective climate goals. At COP29, NDF will host two events focused on climate finance. Together with our partners, we will dive deeply into how we can unlock catalytic finance for climate solutions. In collaboration with our sister organisations, NIB and Nefco, we will also explore how the Nordic approach mobilises climate finance while upholding Nordic values. | It's time to act now with speed and scale Since 2009, we have provided EUR 563 million to finance climate adaptation and mitigation projects in the Global South. Only last year, we contributed to delivering positive development and climate outcomes to over 57 million people —of which half are women— and vulnerable communities impacted by climate change. Yet, we all need to do more to meet the climate goals. “As we move forward towards COP29 and finding solutions to humanity’s most profound challenges, we call the global community to match the ambition with action and mobilise climate finance with speed and scale for solutions that can change our planet’s future," says Satu Santala, our Managing Director. |
Unlocking catalytic finance for climate solutions 14 November, 14:30-15:15 (GMT+4) Nordic Pavilion (Blue Zone, Zone E, C13) Through this event, which you can attend in person or follow online, we aim to showcase good practices for creating pathways to scalable and sustainable climate solutions in the world's most vulnerable regions. We will have an engaging panel of speakers presenting what they have learned on efficient ways to scale up innovative projects with flexible, catalytic financing from the perspectives of both the public and private sectors. Nordic perspectives: Paving the way to mobilise climate finance 15 November, 18:30-20:00 (GMT+4) Nordic Pavilion (Blue Zone, Zone E, C13) Climate finance has reached record high levels but is still falling short of needs. This event explores Nordic perspectives on financing instruments in mobilising climate finance for innovative solutions. Hosted in partnership with Nordic Investment Bank, Nefco - Nordic Green Bank, and Nordic Council of Ministers, we pave the way towards a more sustainable world with Nordic financing solutions. Follow the event online through Norden.org. |
