For too long, our human health has been viewed through a narrow set of lenses, focused on specific body parts or systems, and on the pathways toward disease, rather than toward health. Over the last few years, the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) has worked to advance research on whole person health, to help drive a paradigm shift and bring all aspects of our health into a clearer picture.

What You Need To Know About the New NIH Data Management and Sharing Policy

If you intend to submit a National Institutes of Health (NIH) application next year, you should know there are big changes coming. Its been on the horizon for several years, but the newNIH Data Management and Sharing (DMS) Policywill go into effect starting with applications received on or after January 25, 2023. Responsible data management and sharing has many benefits, including accelerating the pace of biomedical research, enabling validation of research results, and providing accessibility to high-value datasets.

Lisa Stroud SES Lecture 2022

The 2022 Stephen E. Straus Distinguished Lecture in the Science of Complementary Therapies, is confirmed for Tuesday, December 13, 2022, from 2 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. ET. Were pleased to announce our speaker,Laura Stroud, Ph.D., Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Professor of Behavioral and Social Sciences, Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior, Brown University. More information about the lecture will be posted soon.

The lecture series is supported by the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health with a generous gift from Bernard and Barbro Osher.

Repository and Database for Anatomical and Physiological Ontology of Acupoints Technical Assistance Webinar

October 6, 2022, 2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. ET; Virtual

NCCIH is hosting a two-part webinar series. The first is the technical assistance webinar to help potential applicants learn more about the NIH funding opportunity announcement:Research Resource Center to Build an Open-Access Repository and Database for Anatomical and Physiological Ontology of Acupoints (Please read RFA-AT-23-005 for full details.) During the webinar, NCCIH program and review staff will discuss important application considerations and review requirements. The latter portion of the webinar will be devoted to answering applicant questions. If interested, please register online. The application due date is November 30, 2022.

The second portion of the two-part series takes place on October 21, 2022 from 3:00-4:00 p.m. ET: Researchers Networking and Collaboration Webinar: Repository and Database for Anatomical and Physiological Ontology of Acupoints Webinar II.

This virtualNetworking and Collaboration Webinaris focused on matching investigators with common aims so that they can collaborate and prepare to successfully apply. It is an opportunity to meet and match with other researchers for the purpose of applying to RFA-AT-23-005. During the webinar, NCCIH program staff will facilitate discussions among potential applicants. If interested, please register to attend this second webinar.

NOTE: Investigators participating in this webinar, the second of a 2-part webinar series, will agree during registration to share important aspects of their background, interests, and contact information to facilitate collaboration.

Attending the two webinars is not a requirement for submission.
