| I’ve always liked Seth Kugel’s style. When he was the Frugal Traveler for the New York Times, he immersed himself in sophisticated adventures that weren’t only powered by travel apps and a wallet full of cash. He’s awake without pretending to be wide-eyed. He’s frugal without being silly about it (after deciding that the Frugal Traveler could never afford a safari in South Africa, he set up a trip for less than $100 a day). And he confesses to the same kind of “everyone is looking at me! I’m such an outsider” anxiety most of us experience when we travel.
I’ll be testing some limits and venturing far afield over the next two years and thanks to Kugel I’ll be wandering with curiosity, humility and imagination.
