| | | | | Sport Update | | | | Interview: Scotland rugby hero Tony Stanger on why he loves football | If youâre a football man, determinedly of that persuasion and a bit sneering with it, then you might view Tony Stangerâs Hawick as the sporting equivalent of the flat earth society, a place where they believe that when leather and air conjoin the result must always be egg-shaped. Anything else â¨is sacrilege, anything else is banned. Visitors will be searched and if spheres of perfect circumference are found these must be deposited in the giant receptacles at the town gates. |

| And finally... | | Music review: Johnny Marr, Barrowland, Glasgow | âTHIS is a disco song,â declared Johnny Marr before a dramatically rearranged version of Getting Away With It, his 1989 debut hit alongside New Orderâs Bernard Sumner as Electronic, which here bore a loose, grinding, extended groove reminiscent of early Talking Heads. âItâs Friday now, right? The weekend starts here!âItâs impossible to imagine Marrâs long-former Smiths bandmate and noted discophobe Morrissey engaging in such upbeat and light-hearted banter, but then itâs also hard to picture the bullish and controversial Morrissey of 2018 swearing off politics as Marr did here (âIs it just me or is all politics really s***? Donât worry, Iâm not going to go thereâ¦â) |
