Good afternoon, Thursday already! I hope everybody is well. Before I launch into today's news I just wanted to clear something up. Yesterday, social media was heavily critical of the Lancashire Post for sharing national/showbiz stories via our website. I just wanted to clarify that our news team here in Lancashire (and we are a local news team with all reporters based right here) focus on news from this community. Any additional national content shared online is just that - additional - and written by a central content team so staff can focus on local stories and issues that impact residents every day. Local newspaper brands have always carried an element of national news, in fact national news was always front page every day when we launched 148 years ago. We actually now carry much less - though we always have taken on that which impacts our own. Now that's sorted let's talk Lancashire. Today we have shared the story of a young mum who is raising awareness of cardiac charity CRY following the sudden death of her husband . And the public are being urged to take part in a beach-clean challenge to make our shores beautiful. Plus find out the areas of Preston, Chorley and South Ribble where Covid has all but vanished. Enjoy your Thursday. Nicola |
