HSE's Risk-reduction through design awards aim to inspire employers to think about how changes to work can reduce the risks of harm to their workers. They celebrate the achievements of UK employers who have made simple changes to their workplace, tasks or activities that have resulted in significantly reduced musculoskeletal risk to their employees.  The awards, sponsored by HSE and the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (CIEHF), take place annually with nominations reviewed by an independent panel of judges.  We have added a new award for 2024, so there are now 2 categories that aim to recognise employers who are making a difference in reducing MSD risks for their workers: best overall MSD risk reduction through design award small to medium enterprises (SME) recognition award Further details on how to enter and case studies for previous winners are available on HSEâs website. | HSE's MSD tool combines the popular MSD assessment guides and transforms them into an all-in-one digital solution. The MSD tool combines the popular MSD assessment guides Manual handling assessment charts (MAC), Assessment of repetitive tasks (ART) and Risk assessment of pushing and pulling (RAPP).  They have been designed to simplify the process of completing each musculoskeletal disorder risk assessment, with a logical step-by-step approach so organisations can conduct individual MAC, ART and RAPP assessments.  The tools are available free of charge. For organisations who carry out large numbers or want to analyse their assessments, a premium option is also available.ââââââ  Since it was launched in 2021, more than 1,000 organisations have used the online version, completing approximately 6,000 assessments of workers. Feedback received so far includes:  'The MSD Tool has helped us significantly reduce risk by simplifying the risk assessment process and providing more detailed assessments of tasks. This has allowed us to split tasks and conduct more comprehensive assessments of different parts of lifting.'  'The MSD Tool has enabled us to track trends and implement control measures to reduce accidents and incidents. It has been massively helpful in identifying key aspects of risk that should be addressed through preventative or mitigations measures.'  Get further information about the Musculoskeletal disorders online assessment tool and find out how it could help your organisation.
