Disinformation is everywhere this election, and we want to help you sift through it. The 2020 campaign is already full of questionable information that’s intended to sway our opinions. From deepfakes to fake news, falsehoods spread more quickly than the truth. That’s why we put together this guide for how to spot disinformation.

Iran has retaliated against the United States. The country fired missiles at two Iraqi bases housing U.S. troops in response to the killing of top Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani. As the AP reports, the missile strikes “were a major escalation of tensions that have been rising steadily across the Mideast following months of threats and attacks after President Trump's decision to unilaterally withdraw America from Tehran's nuclear deal with world powers.”

Minnesota’s Beltrami County has prohibited refugee settlement. It’s the first county in the state, and possibly the entire U.S., to explicitly bar refugees from resettling after a President Trump executive order required local governments’ approval. Other Minnesota counties unanimously allowed refugee resettlement; St. Louis and Stearns counties (home to Duluth and St. Cloud, respectively) have tabled the matter.
