Good morning. The weekend's been chock full of newsworthy events.

Edwin Edwards laid to rest

Mourners gathered at the State Capitol Saturday to pay their respects to former Louisiana Gov. Edwin W. Edwards, who died July 12 at the age of 93.

'We never forget'

Five years after a deadly ambush against Baton Rouge police officers that left two officers and a deputy dead, a group of officers' wives gathered to memorialize the fallen.

A monumental move

After standing over downtown Lafayette for nearly a century, the statue of Confederate Gen. Alfred Mouton was deposed from its podium by a towering crane. The removal prompted cheers and applause from spectators.

'Fight or flight'

LSU's president and New Orleans' mayor praised the two medical students who went viral after rendering emergency aid to a fellow passenger on a flight to NYC.

Lauren Bagneris and Heather Duplessis were bound for Greece to mark the end of their first year at LSU Health when someone on the flight began to overheat and no one else was answering calls for help.
