with Kelly P. Kissel | Metro editor

We start out with coverage from two funerals today, one you likely heard of already.

Services were held Sunday for former Gov. Edwin Edwards, who died last week at age 93. See our extensive photo coverage of his body's journey from the new state Capitol to the Old State Capitol.

In Erwinville, a memorial service was held for a 46-year-old man who died from COVID. He would take any of the vaccines, to his mother's disappointment. Our newest reporter, Elyse Carmosino, attended and reports on the mother's effort to make sure vaccines were available at the service.

And on Tuesday, Louisiana lawmakers will hold their first-ever veto session. While Gov. John Bel Edwards vetoed a number of bills, a central discussion has been on transgender issues.

We appreciate your checking in with us to start your week. Check our other stories below.
