According to Greg, that will finally become a reality this summer. The couple has purchased 125 acres just across the border at 2777 Pearl Rd. in Medina Township in early 2023. Collision Bend Brewing Co. Opens in Euclid Collision Bend Brewing, which opened in 2017 in Cleveland’s Flats East Bank, has expanded to Euclid with a massive location. The space includes a brewery, taproom, loading dock, kitchen, offices and more. The project hit a few snags but is up and running in an industrial area next to an Amazon warehouse facility. The location on Babbitt Road will house a 30-barrel system while the Flats East Bank location will maintain its 15-barrel system. The Euclid space covers about 25,000 square feet and also includes an operating loading dock, shipping / receiving area, milling room, storage, lab and garage doors. Tables are spaced out, and the bar itself can seat about two dozen people. OPENINGS Never Say Dive opens in Old Brooklyn The Old Brooklyn neighborhood is getting a new hangout with Never Say Dive, a high-low bar and restaurant concept created by Cleveland’s industry vets. Never Say Dive aims to be everyone’s new favorite hangout in the city. The team of Eric Ho, Dan Watson, Tommy Shaffner and John Hagerty acquired the space at 4497 Broadview Road on New Year’s Day of 2023. It celebrated its grand-opening on Jan. 5. READ MORE Ryes and Shine opens Ryes and Shine, and all-day breakfast place that offers craft beer and Bourbon, has been opened a couple of months in Cuyahoga Falls. Here’s a look at the space, which is located in the old Silver Swan Tavern and is doing well. READ MORE The Berea Depot restaurant closes The Berea Depot restaurant has closed. On its Facebook page, the restaurant posted: “It is with heavy heart and much sadness that The Berea Depot has decided not to reopen. We would like to thank everyone who came to support us and became part of our “Depot” family. Thank you all again for the continued support over the years. We wish you all a very Happy New Year.” Chef Scott Ita and his wife, Lynn McLaughlin, own the restaurant, which is located at 30 Depot St. It featured a bar area that kept the feel of a vintage railroad station. The restaurant was the latest business in the historic train station, which previously housed a Pufferbelly and the Berea Union Depot Taverne. EVENTS/TASTINGS Wienermobile hauling buns to Cleveland! The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is headed to Greater Cleveland, with multiple stops scheduled. In addition to swag being given out, the classic hot-dog automobile offers great photo opportunities. The OMW has some great history to it, dating to the 1930s. READ MORE Winter Wine Affair shifts venues for 2024 The 2024 Winter Wine Affair, a fest offering tastes and vendors, is scheduled for March.The tasting-shopping event is 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at Mr. Anthony’s Banquet Center in Youngstown. Previously it was held at Stambaugh Auditorium, about nine miles away. The Ohio Wine Producers Association’s event is billed as a way to break out of cabin fever. Ohio wineries will offer sampling and to-go sales, and assorted vendors will be on hand. It will include live music, food and craft vendors, prizes, raffle and more. PICKS OF THE WEEK Terrestrial Brewing Company Terrestrial has been a craft beer haven on the West Side since it opened in 2017, and it has only grown to become more of a culinary force. Both Terrestrial and its neighbor Terra Bistro serve brunch, lunch and dinner that’s worth seeking out. The smash burger, which has an egg-topped brunch counterpart, is a reliable staple alongside crispy waffle fries dunked in beer cheese. Plus, Terrestrial is a dog-friendly space that hosts specific brunches for dogs on Sunday. DETAILS Sittoo’s Pita & Salads You don't have to settle for the same old fast-food options when you have Sittoo’s Pita & Salads. The fast-service place offers a variety of different sized dishes, like a quartet of falafel balls or spinach pie. Great flavors, something different, and locations in Cleveland at Playhouse Square and University Circle as well as North Olmsted and Parma. DETAILS Au Jus A lot has been made of Au Jus, 5875 Broadview Rd. Unit B, Parma. And its monumental Italian Beef. All the raves about the mostly take-out joint situated in the Independence-Parma-Seven Hills triangle are 100% legit. Their menu has all manner of flat-pressed sandwiches—Italian/Sicilian-influenced, along with Philly and sausage sandos—but don’t sleep on their Cubano. With a solid portion of shredded pork, thin-sliced ham, Swiss cheese, pickles and yellow mustard, this Cuban is a bright, tangy delight with a crunch that can be heard from here to Miami to Key West to Havana. ¡Dios mío!
