With an arctic front storm coming, you might want to move up your travel plans. |
Safe travels:A significant winter storm will be moving through Michigan later this week. Because of that, MLive Chief Meteorologist Mark Torregrossa recommends moving your travels plans up. To be safe, Mark recommends using today or tomorrow for traveling. Read more here. More than snow coming from the sky: You won't only find snow if you look up this week. You will also see the year's last significant meteor shower. The Ursid meteor shower will peak overnight on Wednesday and into the pre-dawn hours of Thursday. | A Michigan judge has ruled that teachers are exempt from FOIA. |
The ruling:Although Michigan public schools are subject to public records requests, its teachers are not, a judge ruled last week. The state’s Freedom of Information Act does not apply to teachers, because they are employees and not the “public body,” the Michigan judge concluded. More FOIA requests: Schools have seen an influx of FOIA requests regarding critical race theory and other diversity teachings, and some school board candidates staked their campaigns against them.
Other courts news: Former Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Director Nick Lyon is asking a state court to affirm the decision to dismiss criminal charges against him despite an appeal by Flint water prosecutors. |
