While downstate areas have been getting rounds of rain, thunder and even a weak tornado, Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula have been getting an astonishing amount of snow in the last few days with even more on the way. If you're wondering, the illustrious Gaylord Ice Tree, a winter icon, is still going strong nearly two weeks into spring. When will it end? No one is sure, but maybe this full Pink Moon that is sharing the sky with 3 bright planets this week is a sign. |

The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado touched down in Dundee on Saturday, causing damage to the downtown area and elsewhere along its path. These Michigan universities rank best in the world, per Times Higher Education |
Among 1,799 universities ranked, UM-Ann Arbor ranked No. 23 in the world and third among public universities in the United States. Michigan State University ranked just outside the top-100 in the world at No. 106 overall. Wayne State University is next in the state, ranked between No. 501-600. Oakland University is ranked between No. 1,001-1,200. Both Grand Valley State and Western Michigan University round out the Michigan universities in the rankings at No. 1,201-1,500. Historic Lake Michigan state park gets $245K to reestablish beach |
A makeover: Orchard Beach State Park hasn’t had a beach since 2017, when high water levels came up to the 100-foot bluff that the park sits atop and began eating away at it. However, a $245,000 project could help get it back. A quiet little lake filled with bass and bluegill: This beloved up-north fishing spot, Cornwall Creek Flooding in the Pigeon River Country State Forest, is at risk if dam isn’t rebuilt. Also in fishing, anglers are starting to see “steady numbers” and better catches of steelhead in Michigan’s northern Lower Peninsula. Going into the 2023 season, all we knew was that Detroit Tigers legend Miguel Cabrera would be something less than an everyday player in his final season. Four days into the season, the soon-to-be 40-year-old has started...every day. That’s not a large sample size, and it might not reflect what is to come. From a Riley Greene floppy hat to Miggy, Greene and Black Panther Bobbleheads to Javy sunglasses, here are the dates and items for each giveaway.
