In today's newsletter, Michigan's "cannibal killer" is sentenced to life in prison, a dangerous flash freeze is possible next week and why you should listen to our Lions podcast, Dungeon of Doom. |
It looks like a lake effect weekend for Michigan. |
If you've been an MLive reader for a while now, you know Mark Torregrossa likes to provide us all with a weekend forecast each week so we can make our plans (or change them). We have more weather content below, but I thought I'd start with a warning that you might need your shovel. According to Mark, the weather will start to turn wintery this afternoon and last all weekend. Depending on where you are, you could get slammed with the lake effect snow, or you could have a lovely dusting. Find out all about the forecast right here. If you don't yet have plans for the weekend and the snow isn't convincing you to stay inside, we have some events to check out. For instance, in Grand Rapids, you can decorate cookies with Santa. In Ann Arbor, you can learn all about the Boblo boats. No matter what you do, I hope you have a grand time. |

A dangerous flash freeze is highly possible as an Arctic front passes through Michigan next week. |
A holiday warning: MLive Chief Meteorologist Mark Torregrossa wants to give you a heads up for next week. A drastic temperature drop in a short time period next week could produce a flash freeze somewhere in the middle U.S. It could create dangerous traveling conditions during the week of Christmas. Stay updated: If you are preparing to travel next week, Mark recommends staying updated with the latest forecast details as your trip approaches. You can always find his latest updates on our MLive weather landing page. And check his daily live updates on our Facebook page. Look at the stars: Have you ever wondered why the stars look brighter during the winter months? Or maybe you've never noticed. Either way, here's the info on sparkly cold-weather skies.

Join us in the Dungeon of Doom to discuss all things Detroit Lions. |
Check out the podcast: If you are like me, Sunday cannot come soon enough. I am totally amped up on these Detroit Lions. So, to get me through until I can watch the guys again on Sunday, I listen to my favorite Lions podcast, Dungeon of Doom.
Peter King and Taylor Decker: Hosts Kyle Meinke and Ben Raven have a great lineup this week, first speaking to the very knowledgable sports journalist Peter King. Then, they hang out with the most veteran Lions player Taylor Decker to discuss the team's hot streak. You can find the podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you listen to podcasts.
Proving the haters wrong: Quarterback Jared Goff has really turned things around in Detroit. All the people who were dogging him have been proven wrong as of recently. Not that Goff cares about that. |
