The COVID pandemic is taking a disproportionate toll on moms It's been a hard year for everyone. But, according to statistics, mothers in Michigan and across the country pay a disproportionate cost when school buildings close and families face the demand of online and hybrid learning. That means the COVID-19 pandemic has hit moms especially hard. The incoming Biden team is expected to move quickly to enact national regulations that would limit allowable quantities of PFAS in drinking water and designate some of the myriad chemical variations as “hazardous substances." Health officials have been urging Americans not to gather in large groups to celebrate the holiday, out of concerns that gatherings will lead to the additional spread of the coronavirus. Here in Michigan, the state's top medical executive, Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, is giving Michiganders the same advice. "This year, it simply has to be different," Khaldun said. She also discusses the state's need for blood donors and the prospect of a COVID-19 vaccine.
