Michiganders hoping for snow have had their wishes granted and more is on the way.
Many areas across the state received double digit snow totals. Cannonsburg, known for its ski hill, received almost 16 inches of snow in 24 hours.

Lake effect snow machine stays on during bitterly cold week ahead |
More snow: Many parts of Michigan will see more snow this week as the Arctic air mass settles into the region. The east side of the Lower Peninsula is expected to see light snow over the next few days. In the western Upper Peninsula, Calumet and Houghton should have up to 8 inches of snow by Tuesday morning. Bundle up: Venturing outside without the proper gear this week can quickly result in frostbite or hypothermia. Areas of exposed skin, like your fingers, face, or ears, can be permanently damaged by frostbite when the wind chills plunge to sub-zero levels.
Dangerously cold: Monday's wind chill advisory and this week's projected sub-zero wind chills have prompted emergency warming shelters to open across Michigan.

Happy ending: Midland firefighters and staff at an area animal hospital are being lauded as heroes after rescuing and treating Koufax, a 6-year-old Irish setter, that fell through ice on the Tittabawassee River. In Kalamazoo: Police suspect drugs were a contributing factor in a wrong-way crash on I-94 that left one person in critical condition. Habitual offender: A man accused of hiding cameras in bathrooms and secretly recording hundreds of people throughout Ann Arbor before and after police seized his recording equipment is heading to prison. |

See which celebrities showed up for Detroit Lions’ big playoff win |
Famous: It was a star-studded event on the sideline of the Detroit Lions wild-card playoff game against the Los Angeles Rams. Celebrities like Eminem, Taylor Lautner, Big Sean, Sam Richardson, Chad Smith, and more were spotted during the historic win. Speaking up: Following the wild-card game at Ford Field, Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford addressed his return to Detroit and the reaction from the fans in attendance.
Another win: Detroit is celebrating a 129-117 victory over the Washington Wizard on Monday, giving the Pistons only their fourth win of the season.

Winter fun: Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation put out their top five sledding hills, including three that have gear libraries with free sled rentals. Look up: Stargazers, get ready for two opportunities to see rare comets this year. The "Devil's Comet" flies past our solar system once every 71 years and is set to reappear this spring. A comet recently discovered in 2023 should also be visible to the naked eye this fall. |
