$500 million water infrastructure investment planned for Michigan Michigan plans to spend $500 million on improving the state’s water infrastructure. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced MI Clean Water Thursday, saying it’s a step in the right direction after “decades of underinvestment in Michigan’s infrastructure.” Taxes will not be raised for the infrastructure updates, with federal funds being used, along with a General Fund appropriation. Mike Shriberg with the National Wildlife Federation called the move “a historic investment that will protect public health, or economy, and our Great Lakes for generations to come.” The plan is also expected to support more than 7,500 jobs, according to Whitmer. Football in the fall was reinstated recently, with games coming later this month. But that was the only Big Ten fall sport to get that reversal treatment. Everything else is still canceled, with athletes waiting for the spring, when they will be able to play field hockey, soccer, volleyball and other traditional fall sports during a completely different season. “You’ve got be realistic,” said Michigan State men’s soccer coach Damon Rensing. “Football funds a majority of our athletic department.
