Too steep: As rent prices increase in Michigan, around 200 people rallied at the state Capitol on Tuesday, Sept. 5 against issues like rent and fee hikes, poor maintenance and the amount of new luxury housing being built compared to affordable and public housing. More in politics: Former Rep. Mike Rogers, who spent 14 years representing a Howell-area district in the House, announced Wednesday he’s seeking — for the second time — to succeed Sen. Debbie Stabenow in Congress. Need more funding: Agricultural experts in Michigan are emphasizing the need to put more food on the table for families as food insecurity rises globally. |

Kalamazoo father and son make running history, 1st duo to win USATF titles in same year |
Fast lane: Kalamazoo father Josh Sanders and his son, Noah, are now history makers. Noah claimed his first-ever outdoor USA Track and Field (USATF) Youth 1,500-meter national title in July. Josh also won the outdoor USATF 3,000-meter steeplechase masters national championship. This makes the first father son duo to win USATF national titles in the same year. Taking a loss: Matt Manning was struck by a line drive and left the game after just one inning, forcing the Detroit Tigers to use five relievers in a 4-3 loss to the New York Yankees on Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium.
