Remembering those we lost years ago. |
Today marks the 22nd anniversary of the horrific terrorist attacks that left our country mourning, in fear, and united. We lost nearly 3,000 Americans on Sept. 11, 2001, including at least 42 people with Michigan ties. May we never forget those who passed. They were friends and family members who had life taken from them too early. May we continue to honor them and share their stories for decades to come. I'm part of the generation who doesn't remember 9/11. But thanks to the continuous remembrance each year, the day never passes without me thinking about the victims, our first-responders and the impact it left on society. If you remember that day, thank you for sharing your memories. It matters. |

Find a message in a bottle, win a stay at historic Michigan lighthouse |
Woah: Four stout glass bottles with secret messages inside are bobbing their way around the Great Lakes right now — and the finders who eventually discover them will be awarded a stay at one of Michigan’s most remote lighthouses. Check out this nature trail: A quiet walk through an old-growth forest, a picnic in an historic limestone pavilion and a Lake Michigan sunset. This could be your itinerary at one Northern Michigan state park. Yummy: More than 3,500 pasties were sold in a single day at the annual Calumet fête, which celebrates the U.P.’s emblematic baked pastry. |
