Real accumulating snow possible this weekend across Michigan It's time to prepare yourself mentally, make sure the scraper is in the car and double check your tires. Winter is really coming. This weekend looks like an early December weekend with respect to weather. A storm system should have cold enough air to accumulate some snow just about everywhere in Michigan. Firstly, it’s not a big snowstorm for 90 percent of Michigan. It will rank as heavy snow at most of the snowbelts. But even the far southeast, where warmth usually fights off early season snow, could have a few inches of snow. Gretchen Whitmer has signed into law a bill that grants Michigan drivers the opportunity to renew their license plates every two years. The bill aims to save motorists trips to SOS branches or their local SOS kiosks by giving drivers the option of selecting two-year vehicle registrations. Currently, a vehicle registration is issued annually. READ MORE Grand Valley State University reported a 4% decline in its student population this fall, the largest drop in the university’s ongoing five-year downward trend in enrollment. This year’s decline in enrollment was also the largest annual population drop GVSU has experienced in the last decade. Enrollment at all 15 of Michigan’s state universities peaked in Fall 2011 at 301,919 students and has declined every year since then, according to 2020 data from the Michigan Association of State Universities.
