There was just under five minutes to go in the 2024 College Football National Championship. Michigan football - Team 144 - was holding on to a precious 14-point lead. NRG stadium chants were echoing like the game was at the Big House. Washington was forced to go for it on fourth and a handful of prayers. Michael Penix Jr., humbled all night, chucked it down field. Interception. Ball game.
Two plays later, Blake Corum punched it in and Jim Harbaugh's Wolverines made it 34-13.
There were some moments of anxiety for sure, but Monday night, like it had been so many times this season, was pure Michigan domination.

The new kid: Ferris State University is believed to be the first in the country to use artificial intelligence (AI) to create virtual students that will enroll in classes and participate in lessons and assignments. An unanswered question: In Michigan’s K-12 public schools, there is such a thing as a free lunch – and breakfast, too. But whether this change is permanent remains to be seen, as legislative efforts to codify the program have stalled in the state Senate. More in education: A federal judge has approved a $2.8 million settlement between the Douglas J Aveda Institute and plaintiffs who accused the school of forcing students to do unpaid labor while enrolled. |

AG report names 28 with Diocese of Gaylord as part of Michigan clergy abuse probe |
Twenty-six priests and two deacons associated with the Catholic Diocese of Gaylord are at the center of a report issued by the Department of Attorney General on Monday regarding ongoing allegations of clergy abuse across Michigan’s seven Catholic dioceses. In Kalamazoo: A former high-ranking labor official in Michigan was sentenced to at least 40 days in jail and probation for aggravated assault after being accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a political fundraiser. Wanting a change: The Michigan Republican Party wants to close primary elections. Not so fast, officials and experts say. |
