The latest in Michigan's sign-stealing saga |
The University of Michigan has received a notice of intent to issue disciplinary action from the Big Ten, the next step in an escalating feud between the school and conference involving accusations of widespread sign-stealing.
Michigan is reportedly preparing to wage a legal battle if the Big Ten decides to issue a suspension to Jim Harbaugh.
And a former employee at a Big Ten football program said it was his job to steal signs and he was given details from multiple league schools to compile a spreadsheet of play-calling signals used by Michigan last year. |

How Michigan hospitals graded for patient safety in fall 2023 |
Find a hospital: Michigan hospitals collectively received more “C,” “D” and “F” letter grades on their safety report cards this fall than last year. While 51 of the 82 assessed hospitals were given an “A” or “B,” 19 health care facilities got a lesser grade than they did in fall 2022, according to the latest evaluation by national non-profit watchdog The Leapfrog Group. More in health:A medical device used to detect lower levels of oxygen in blood may be less effective for people with darker skin, and this could lead to delays in treatment and hospital admissions for people of color. |

What does the weather look like this week? |
The forecast says:There is one statewide rain Wednesday into Thursday and one rain for northern Michigan Friday into Saturday. Both rains will be half-day rains of off and on showers. Temperatures are going to alternate between a mild day and a chilly day from Tuesday to Friday. Looking back: We didn’t see much sunshine in October across Michigan. In fact, one location had the cloudiest October since 2009. In the future: There really is no true winter-like pattern being seen over the next few weeks. In fact it appears as though a warming phase is going to develop next week. The extended weather data going out two weeks shows warmer-than-normal temperatures. |

Michigan to forgive $114M of school district debt in plan sent to governor |
Wheels are moving: Five school districts would be lifted out of debt by a $114 million plan on its way to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s desk. The Democrat-controlled Michigan Legislature last week directed money from the state’s School Aid Fund to forgive debts hanging over the Benton Harbor, Inkster, Muskegon Heights, Pontiac and Ypsilanti school districts. More in politics: Former U.S. Rep. Peter Meijer, R-Grand Rapids, has announced a bid for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated at the end of 2024 by retiring Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Lansing. |
