Morning Briefing

TUESDAY, AUGUST 22, 2023

In today's newsletter, Michigan’s most popular dog names of 2023, Trump vs. Biden is again ultra-competitive our state and looking at some Best Local Eats.

What does the weather look like this week?

There is still a hot dome of air in the middle U.S. this week. Michigan will be on the edge of this hot dome. At times the heat backs off and some days the hot stuff is going to make a run at us.

For temperatures, today will be in the 70s and 80s. By Wednesday and Thursday we'll see high temperatures in the 90s. Finally, the hot dome will slide back to the west and weaken as we head toward the weekend, putting us in a much cooler pattern.

The path of Hurricane Hilary’s remnant rain may eventually soak Michigan. The current upper-air flow shows part of the state will end up with rain related to the former hurricane.

Fifteen months out, Trump vs. Biden is again ultra-competitive in Michigan

In a hypothetical matchup: Former President Donald Trump is nearly even with President Joe Biden heading into Michigan’s next presidential election. That's according to a poll by EPIC-MRA, a Lansing-based nonpartisan firm that surveyed 600 active and likely 2024 voters.
