The "Barbie" movie is set to premiere in theaters on Saturday, July 22 and some Michigan businesses are getting in on the pink, plastic craze. Grand Rapids' local boutique Basic Bee is hosting a “Barbie Bash” shopping event this Saturday, July 22, that will feature Barbie-themed drinks, delicious treats, and sweet discounts in honor of the upcoming movie. A Saline exhibit can teach you the history of the Barbie doll before watching the new movie adaptation of the famous toy. MLive reporter Justine Lofton even swung by her local Starbucks near Ludington to taste the Tik-Tok famous "Barbie Frappuccino" secret-menu item. |

As Michigan looks to make the state more attractive for both young people to remain in and transplants to move to, its legislature may play a role in one of the core components of that effort: Housing. Uphill battle: But a recent study from the National Low Income Housing Coalition indicates that task may be harder than it seems, ranking Michigan middle of the road for rental affordability nationwide. New chapter: A historic building and former church and school in Bay City is now apartments for young adults aging out of foster care, a population that is vulnerable to homelessness and other dangers. |

Less binging, more revenue: Michigan colleges allowed to sell alcohol at stadiums |
Alcohol ban lifted: Michigan’s public universities will be allowed to sell alcohol at sporting events after Gov. Gretchen Whitmer on Tuesday signed Senate Bill 247 into law. Going fast: The Detroit Lions’ website experienced significant traffic all day on Wednesday as fans rushed to reserve their tickets for this year’s training camp. As of now, tickets are completely sold out for all camp dates, except for August 3rd. Trailblazers: A diverse group of nine athletes representing 10 sports, including record setters and an Olympic gold medalist, will be the next Spartans enshrined in the 2023 Michigan State Hall of Fame. |
