Leaders from 110 of Michigan’s 137 hospitals called it “imperative” that every Michigan resident follow safety protocols put in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and keep hospitals from being overwhelmed in the near future. The Michigan Health & Hospital Association released a joint statement as the state is reporting increases in new coronavirus cases, deaths, hospitalizations and positive test rates daily. In the statement, the chief medical officers and chief clinical officers noted that Michigan has recently seen hospitalizations surge by more than 80%. If they do, that would mean Democrats would control the chamber for the first time since 2010. The party would also have the advantage in controlling the state's divided government.
