"Let’s get off the election issue:"Candidates like Matt DePerno, who is a Republican running for secretary of state in Michigan, want to stop talking about the 2020 election. But it's possible they won't be able to, since a majority of Republicans say they still want to see those results overturned. According to a May poll: Results show 55% of Republicans said the election should be overturned to reinstate former president Donald Trump. Belief in widespread election fraud is also important for any candidate seeking Trump’s endorsement. Speaking of elections: Here is another reminder to check out our voter guide. Santa Ono : The 59-year-old Vancouver native hired by the University of Michigan was president of the University of British Columbia, as well as the University of Cincinnati. He is an immunologist by trade and regularly voices his opinions on sports. Here are 5 more things you should know. 'Proud to be a Wolverine:' "The intellectual depth and breadth of the people in this institution is what brought me here,” Ono said during his 12-minute remarks. “I can’t wait to interact with the students and faculty of all campuses of this great institution." A long history of supporting athletics:Ono praised Michigan’s “storied history” of athletics and its current success while calling it a “point of great pride” for campus and alums. |
