Negotiations over Michigan auto insurance overhaul continue in Lansing

Michigan lawmakers have been meeting since the weekend to try to reach an agreement on how to make changes to Michigan's no fault auto insurance law. The state House and Senate recently passed separate bills in efforts to help reduce the state's highest-in-the-nation insurance premiums. However, neither bill was up to the standards of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. The Republican majority leaders in both chambers have expressed hope a deal is forthcoming. A possible sticking point could be how location plays a role in how rates are levied. Auto insurance premiums vary widely from ZIP code to ZIP code in the state. Check our database to see the average rate in your ZIP code. MORE
