Grand Rapids' international art competition kicks off its tenth year at noon Wednesday, when voting for ArtPrize 2018 officially begins. The contest lasts nearly three weeks, and awards more than half a million dollars in prizes. There are several changes for the 2018 event. Downtown's Rosa Parks Circle will for the first time serve as the unofficial ArtPrize "hub," where visitors can pick up maps, event guides and bus passes. ArtPrize will switch to taking place every two years after this year's event. A new event, called Project 1, will happen in the years the main competition does not.
