Michigan's 2024 presidential primary race is officially over and we now have the presidential candidates for the November election. Ann Arbor lead the way in early voting this year, official counts show. Over 2,700 people voted using the new process and beat other larger cities like Detroit and Grand Rapids in early voting turnout. While yesterday centered the outcomes of presidential nominees, there were local ballot initiatives and millages up for considerations throughout the state. See the more election results here. |

Biden, Trump win 2024 Michigan primary |
For the Democrats: President Joe Biden won Michigan’s Democratic presidential primary race amid an organized effort urging voters to vote uncommitted due to the civilian deaths in the Israel-Hamas war. On the GOP side: Former President Donald Trump won the Michigan Republican presidential primary, according to the Associated Press. Trump’s only competition in the race is from former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley, who vowed to continue her campaign against him despite losing by double-digit margins in every contest for the nomination. Michigan was the fourth state to hold its presidential primary, following Iowa, Nevada and South Carolina. Another 15 states will host their primaries next week on Super Tuesday, March 5. |

Judge rules Kristina Karamo was properly ousted as Michigan GOP chair |
Ousted: Kristina Karamo was properly removed as the leader of the Michigan Republican Party during a Jan. 6 meeting held by a breakaway faction of the party, a Kent County judge ruled Tuesday. Court says: The preliminary injunction ruling bars Karamo from calling herself chair of the party, accessing party finances or calling meetings. The ruling from Circuit Judge Joseph Rossi appears to place Pete Hoekstra, who was later elected by the breakaway faction, as chair of the state party. Helping hand: Rep. Rashida Tlaib introduced a bill that would launch a pilot program to provide $1,400 a month or the adjusted fair market value for rent to emancipated minors and homeless people under the age of 30. |

1,100 high-skilled jobs could come to Michigan with $900M solar facility |
New opportunity: As demand for solar power in the U.S. continues to grow, Corning Inc. has plans for a solar component manufacturing facility, more than 1,100 new high-skilled jobs and a capital investment of up to $900 million in Saginaw County. Rehabilitate: Efforts to turn the long-vacant Froebel School in Muskegon into a residential development have received a $1.4 million boost from the state's Blight Remediation Grant. The funds will help restore the historic building and transform it into affordable apartments. Something new: New renderings released by Grand Action 2.0 provide the most detailed look yet at the proposed 8,500-seat Grand Rapids soccer stadium, a project that supporters say would provide a big economic boost for downtown and introduce a new professional sport to the city. |
