30-plus vehicles were involved in ‘chaotic’ I-94 pileup |
Dangerous: Monday's slushy road conditions ended with more than 30 vehicles involved in a crash along a mile-long stretch of I-94. The closure in western Kalamazoo County lasted nearly six hours and temporarily stranded hundreds of vehicles, according to Michigan State Police. Being safe: Saginaw will receive $278,530 — via the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Safe Streets and Roads grant program — to develop “a comprehensive safety plan” for the city’s streets. Under investigation: An Ottawa County sheriff’s deputy was injured while investigating a crash after a driver was unable to stop and hit the officer.

Pictured Rocks ditches gas-powered gear to reduce emissions and noise |
Lower carbon emissions: Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore will virtually eliminate carbon emissions from trail maintenance work as the park switches from gas-powered to battery-powered equipment to maintain hiking trails and grounds for visitors. Here comes a warm Christmas |
Not a white Christmas: This Christmas will be nowhere near normal for all of Michigan. The warmest part of our Christmas Day should be 20 degrees warmer than normal. And it’s not just Christmas Day that will be warm: The days leading up to Christmas will also be mild. Up North weather: The major snowmaker has come to an end for Northern Michigan, and there isn’t much precipitation or sun to be found for the rest of the forecast this week. Let it snow: December's snow totals across Michigan are looking slim. Marquette is 38 inches below normal on snow. Grand Rapids is one of Michigan’s snowier cities, and is 16 inches below normal.
