More on the drone company Blueflite that will open in Lafayette

BY ADAM DAIGLE | Acadiana Business Editor

The story of Blueflite's pending arrival in Lafayette got people talking.

The Detroit-based drone manufacturer with a global footprint, has partnered with Acadian Ambulance to develop potentially lifesaving technology to deliver blood to accident sites.

The deal is one of several potential ventures in the state for the nearly 8-year-old startup, which has begun interviewing potential employees for its software development office downtown in the Opportunity Machine. And it comes as the company is attracting the attention of local investors.

“These are strategic investors, people in a space we want to operate in, not some jackass venture capitalist that just wants the returns,” said Blueflite co-founder James McClearen in an interview.
