More flakes this weekend. We saw some flurries in the Twin Cities metro area today but accumulating snow is most likely in northern Minnesota tomorrow. The metro area could see some rain showers at times on Saturday, with a few flakes in the mix Saturday morning. A few snow showers are also possible in the metro area Saturday night. Highs Saturday range from the mid-30s to lower 60s. Highs in the 30s and 40s on Sunday. Minnesota reported nearly 2,300 new COVID-19 cases today, although results came on record testing. Minnesota also saw its highest three-day COVID-19 death toll since June today; 61 Minnesotans died this week. Active, confirmed cases this week topped 10,000. Top state health officials warn Minnesota is catching up with neighboring states that have seen swelling COVID-19 case totals in recent weeks. Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm said that it appears small group gatherings are leading to cases more often than large events. Health officials say high-risk exposures among health care workers have increased since June and they’re mostly coming from community spread, not patients. Nearly a million voters have already cast ballots in Minnesota's general election. New statistics from the Minnesota Secretary of State’s office show 911,000 ballots are in with a little more than two weeks before Election Day.
