The Advocate's Top Headlines

with Matthew Albright| Assistant metro editor

Good morning! Let's get you up to speed on all the latest Baton Rouge news.

Mix and match your COVID vax

People who got the Moderna and Johnson and Johnson versions of the COVID vaccine can get booster shots, the Food and Drug Administration said yesterday. And not just that — they can 'mix and match' shots, meaning your booster could be one of the other versions of the vaccine.

Meanwhile, Louisiana is still behind the rest of the country when it comes to getting vaccinated, though the racial disparity in vaccinations has closed.

Also, check out this story to see when vaccines might be approved for children, and what the plan to get them innoculated might be.

Lane Kiffin to LSU?

Lane Kiffin is a highly controversial college football coach, and he currently leads LSU's hated rivals, the Ole Miss Rebels. So some people wouldn't be happy if he was chosen to replace Ed Orgeron as the Tigers' coach.

But columnist Scott Rabalais explains why it may not be as far-fetched as some people think.

New road ruckus

St. Helena spent $258,000 on a new road recently, and it already has a big hole it. Parish officials are furious at a local gravel mine, saying its trucks are running the road ragged.

But the company says the parish is trying to make it a scapegoat, and the real problem is shoddy road construction.

This story explains the squabble and includes pictures of the damaged road.
