Museum Shop "A Trope to the Moon" Friday, July 19, 2019, 2:00 - 4:00 PM Local artist Fritzi Huber will be near the Museum Shop on Friday afternoon to make and demonstrate lunar-themed thaumatropes. A thaumatrope is an optical toy that was popular in the 19th century, a disk with a picture on each side is attached to two pieces of string. When the strings are twirled quickly between the fingers the two pictures appear to blend into one due to the persistence of vision. Be inspired by the moon landing anniversary and create your own thaumatrope to take home and spin your worries away. |
