| 🦃 Thanksgiving Day brings gusty northwest winds and falling temperatures — by 6 p.m. wind chill readings will dip to a few degrees on either side of zero. 🥶 Our normal high Thanksgiving Day is around 38 degrees in the Twin Cities but today highs remain in the mid 20s. 🏛️ Dementia research and support to continue in Minnesota after Congress passes legislation. U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar spoke at a senior living facility in Minneapolis about legislation that was passed last week reauthorizing a 2018 act that provides research, education and support for those facing Alzheimer’s and dementia and their caregivers. 🚕 After long, winding road trip Uber and Lyft driver pay raises go into effect. The two rideshare companies previously threatened to leave after claiming that previous proposals would make it too difficult for them to do business in the state. 🌌 Northern lights may be faintly visible across parts of the U.S. this Thanksgiving. Much of the following states are best positioned for potential auroras: Washington, Montana, the Dakotas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and Maine. Northern parts of Idaho, Wyoming, New York, Vermont and New Hampshire may also see auroras. 🗳️ Scott County official says 20 absentee ballots in close House race were likely tossed. Even if the 20 ballots could be located, Paul would need to net nearly all of them — 18 — to overtake Tabke. 🏀 Triple threat: Rosemount’s Ramlall sisters make up a basketball powerhouse family. The Irish have a triple threat on their team, the Ramlall family. Arshia plays with her twin sister Amisha and her younger sister Ashna. The trio also play for the club team, the Minnesota Fury. 🦌 Southeast corner of Minnesota remains chronic wasting disease hotspot. DNR wildlife health supervisor Erik Hildebrand said one reason the southeast portion is so problematic is because of its geography. 🌿 Minnesota cannabis license lottery challenge moves to state appeals court. A district court judge halted the lottery indefinitely after applicants who were denied sued. Ramsey County District Court Judge Stephen Smith didn’t rule on the merits of the case, pushing that matter to a higher court. 🎨 ‘Realization of community dreams’ — Minneapolis arts center breaks ground on major expansion. The new construction next door will include artist housing for artists-in-residence and a scene shop for workforce development training in theater tech and design. |
