🌬️ Temperatures will be below normal once again Tuesday with mostly cloudy skies ahead of the next clipper system. Highs will be mostly in the 20s.  

❄️ Snow showers will develop in northwest Minnesota in the morning and spread east through the day into Tuesday night and Wednesday. The snow will largely be confined to the northern third of the state.

A sweet lesson: History museum teaches appreciation for buildings, design through gingerbread

The Stearns History Museum sponsors community classes that aim to teach concepts of architecture and design using an unusual medium: gingerbread. Its organizers say if people know more about how buildings are put together, they’ll be able to better care for them and keep them in use.
 
Suicide prevention groups push for temporary fencing to become permanent on U of M bridge

Supporters says new temporary high fencing on the bridge will save lives after recent incidents sparked concerns. The fencing blocks access to railings, spanning the length of the bridge on either side. It’s been sought for months by suicide prevention advocacy groups in the wake of tragedies at the bridge.
🧖🏻 As temperatures turn frigid, Minnesotans turn to saunas for warmth and community. As temperatures drop into the teens, Minnesotans have embraced sauna culture for warmth and community. Devotees say the state’s sauna mania is about more than sweat and snow.

☕ Inaugural Turkish Festival of Minnesota features coffee, community. The convention center at Canterbury Park in Shakopee was brimming with traditional Turkish music, dancing and cuisine at the first-ever Turkish Festival of Minnesota.

🚓 Judge denies bid of ex-cop sent back to prison after mistaken early release.
Because of a Federal Bureau of Prisons error, former St. Paul Police officer Brett Palkowitch, who was convicted of using excessive force for breaking a man’s ribs, was mistakenly released then ordered back behind bars last year.

🏙️ Sen. Omar Fateh announces candidacy for Minneapolis Mayor, says Frey is ‘failing’ residents. Fateh was the first Somali American to serve in the state senate when he was elected in 2020. He pushed for legislation that set a minimum wage and protections for Uber and Lyft drivers statewide.

⚖️ Some Democrats are frustrated over Joe Biden reversing course and pardoning his son Hunter. Already reeling from their November defeats, Democrats now are grappling with Biden’s pardoning of his son  after the party spent years slamming Donald Trump as a threat to democracy who disregarded the law.
🎧 Can a vibe be intellectual property? A Minnesota-based influencer says yes in lawsuit. A first-of-its-kind legal battle is playing out between two Amazon influencers. Minneapolis-based influencer Sydney Nicole Gifford claims in a lawsuit that Texas-based influencer Alyssa Sheil won’t stop copying her. The two influencers make very similar content and have a very similar look.
