On Saturday, supporters will gather for a groundbreaking ceremony on the Red Lake Nation for a memorial dedicated to those affected by the mass shooting in 2005. Ten people died that day, including the perpetrator. 🗳️ Report: Minnesota youth have huge potential to shape the 2024 presidential election. The report anticipates young voters in the 2nd Congressional District will have a huge impact in the match-up between U.S. Rep Angie Craig, a Democrat running for reelection, and Republican Joe Teirab. 🌿 St. Paul City Council passes zoning ordinance for cannabis businesses. The new rules mirror those of liquor stores in St. Paul. The ordinance requires 24/7 video monitoring of the store’s sales areas and entrances and exits.
🎤 Vance says Haitian migrants with protected status are ‘illegal aliens’ to be deported. The Republican vice presidential nominee continues to rail against Haitian migrants living in Ohio, though many have Temporary Protected Status, as the GOP escalates its hardline immigration stance.
🏛️ House rejects temporary funding bill to avoid government shutdown. The vote was 220-202, with 14 Republicans and all but three Democrats opposing the bill. Speaker Mike Johnson, who said after the vote he was “disappointed,” will likely pursue a Plan B to avoid a partial shutdown, though he was not yet ready to share details. |
